2019 Instructions for Applying
Short history of the grant
In 2016, the Palau National Government utilized funding from India to establish a small grants program to support projects in line with the “Year of the Youth” declaration. In 2017, using grants funded by the government of India, the Palauan government has supported “Year of the Family” small grant projects. In 2018 India funded “Good Health” projects.
2019 Year of “innovative learning and excellence”
Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded for projects that support, promote or develop building knowledge and understanding through new experiences, new partnerships, and new sources of knowledge. The President has been urging government agencies, the private sector, and NGOs to explore innovative ways to deliver goods and services. We are asking organizations to look for innovative ways to improve their situation and to learn what other countries are doing to serve their communities effectively and efficiently. We are looking for projects that look for ways to use the resources we have to ensure less waste and to better utilize current technology for the best output. These opportunities are open to individuals, families, and communities. Projects in the areas of leadership, education, environment, job training/employability skills and community development will be encouraged. Gender equity aspects are to be taken into consideration. Government agencies, State governments, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and recognized NGO’s providing services to families and communities will be invited to develop proposals for submission to the Palau Grants Office.
It is our intent to include the National Government, civic organizations, and private sector partners throughout our nation to establish, strengthen and foster initiatives to perpetuate the acquisition of knowledge through experience, partnership, and innovation. All persons, young and old, will be encouraged to open themselves to new sources of learning for the progress and benefit of our Republic.
We are seeking grant applicants with both clear objectives and a plan for measurable results. We are looking forward to receiving your projects!
